Ferdinand Weiss Score Reading Competition

The Ferdinand Weiss Score Reading Competition was initiated in 2017 by the youngest assistants, Dalma Lidia Kovács and Alexandru Murariu, along with the head of the department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Iulia Cibișescu-Duran. The competition honors the great personality of the distinguished and renowned world-class accompanist, Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Weiss (1932-2002), who was a pioneering figure in the same field.

The competition aims to encourage the development of students as future musicians with a rich cultural and practical musical background by engaging them in the study, analysis, and piano reading of symphonic, chamber, vocal-symphonic, and opera scores from various stylistic periods.
