Mozart Interpretation Competition

The Mozart Festival typically includes a performance competition, with varying focuses from one edition to the next: piano, piano duo, violin, piano trio, quartet, and vocal performance. The organizers make a point of inviting past laureates of these competitions. Over the years, this has allowed audiences to hear again artists such as tenor Marius Vlad Budoiu, mezzo-soprano Iulia Merca, and pianists Vlad Iftinca and Aurelia Vișovan—artists who now enjoy international careers. Among the competition’s laureates, the most successful career is that of the Arcadia String Quartet. Originally formed as a student ensemble in 2006, the quartet has gone on to win prestigious awards at major chamber music competitions worldwide, from Osaka to London.
