Educational concerts

“Dima Youth” is an educational project initiated in 2017 within the “Gheorghe Dima” National Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca, through the Artistic Management course in collaboration with the Department of Specialized Teacher Training.

The mission of the project is to support communication between young musicians and the “audience of tomorrow” by creating a familiar environment that consistently provides complementary elements for musical education.

The biannual performances, aimed at children aged 4 to 18, include excerpts from operas and ballets, explorations of music history, lecture-concerts, interactive presentations of musical instruments, and didactic activities for learning basic musical concepts.

The “Dima Youth” organizing team is composed of students specializing in musical performance, singing, ballet, composition, musicology, conducting, and pedagogy, who hone their managerial skills and teamwork abilities to prepare a quality show rich in information and tailored to the age groups 4-8 years (A), 8-12 years (B), and 12-18 years (C).

One of the important objectives of this project is its charitable component, with the money collected from ticket sales being donated each time to less fortunate children.

So far, we have managed to bring some joy to the children hospitalized in Pediatric Oncology Cluj, the Pediatric Department of the Heart Institute Cluj, and the Pediatric Neurology Department of the Emergency Hospital for Children Cluj.

The classical music program for children DO RE MI START! of the “Gheorghe Dima” National Academy of Music was born over a decade ago.

The concerts, repeated several times in Romanian and Hungarian, enjoyed great success with kindergarten groups and primary school children.

Every year we offer an extensive program aimed at sensitizing children to classical music, attracting them to different forms of musical activity under the guidance of young musical mediators as well as their teachers from kindergartens and schools.
